digital scrapbooking
Digital scrapbooking is one arena I haven’t stepped foot in yet. I often wonder and worry that my reluctance to dive in is going to cost me professionally in the future.
But here’s the deal:
I loved Kindergarten. It’s true! I remember the finger painting and the glue and the scissors and the messyness of it all, and I remember how HAPPY it made me.
Scrapbooking gives me the same feeling. I love the textures of my ribbons and papers and embellishments. I love the swishswish of my photo trimmer, the kaTHUNK of my big guillotine trimmer, the zip of my tape runner. I love the sparkle of my jeweled brads, the scratches that my sanding block makes, the smudges of ink and chalk. I love putting my pen to paper and writing until I run out of room. I love the subtle mistakes I make. I love getting out my Undo when I change my mind.
I love the embellishment piles that grow all around me while I work, the stacks of paper that teeter and topple, the sketch books that get buried under the mess. It’s inefficient, but I love it. And I love the satisfaction of emptying my brown kraft tote bag/trash bag when it fills with paper scraps and photo trimmings. It says to me, “You’re working hard. Good for you!”
I spend enough time on the computer. I can’t imagine scrapbooking on it too.
I wanna TOUCH my stuff. I want to smell it and hear it and see it.
I wanna be in Kindergarten again.

That’s how I feel too. Not interested in doing any digital scrapbooking myself, either. I *like* playing with paper.

I am a ‘touchy feely’ scrapper too. Just want to be able to feel the paper, etc. My planner will always be paper too; I was never interested in using a PDA or electronic planner.
The beauty is that there is the digital out there for those who really wanna do it that way! And we can still use the ideas from digital and translate it to ‘hard copy’ paper. Love Rhonna Farrer’s designs, and Autumn Leaves put out some of her Flourishes as acrylic stamp sets.

Same here. Scrapbooking fills a deep seated need of mine. One that requires paper and scissors and glue (read: “adhesive”) I too spend enough time on the computer. When I’m relaxing, it doesn’t need to be in front of a screen.

I am so thrilled to read this! I was talking with some of my scrapping buddies just the other day about this. We all talked about how much we like all the “stuff” and putting it all together is what makes it what we love!
