Happy Mother’s Day!

by Ann LuMaye

It’s only appropriate, though a bit late, to honor this special day for Mothers with a Mom-themed scrapbook page. Whether or not you are a mother, have a special mother, or have someone “like a mother” in your life, take some time to scrapbook about it. Here are some ideas for creating your own “Mother’s Day” layout…

  • Scrapbook about your mother…perhaps this could be about your relationship with her, how you are alike/different, your favorite things to do together, or maybe just pictures from your mother’s day celebration with her.
  • If your mother is no longer alive you may want to do a special tribute page to her for this mother’s day. You could find a photo of her when she was your age and match that with a current photo of you. Journal about how she has influenced your life and what you most remember about her. Maybe you could mention what she was doing at your age and how that is alike/different then what you are doing now.
  • If you are celebrating this Mother’s Day with your own kids then scrapbook about that. Journal about how much you enjoy motherhood, what your daily life is like with them, or your top ten reasons you love being a mom.
  • Maybe you have someone special in your life that is like a mother to you. Take some time to journal about that person. Tell how they came to be a part of your life, why you are so close to them and what they mean to you.
  • If you are a mommy-to-be this is a great time to journal about your “first Mother’s Day”. Make sure you have a good picture showing where you are at in your pregnancy. You could write a letter to your child telling them how excited you are to be their mommy and what preparations you are doing for their arrival.
  • If you are a mommy to a special animal this day is for you too! Journal about your pet friends on this special day and why you are happy to be their mommy.

The layout below is from Mother’s Day a few years ago. I chose a picture of my mom and I for the focal point photo. The smaller pictures are of my daughter and I, and of my mom with my daughter. I journaled about how we are alike in so many ways as well as how we celebrated that particular Mother’s Day.
