scrapblogging
Not every page has to be an art piece. Say that out loud. Not every page has to be an art piece. If you get frustrated because you’re in a rut, or because you feel uninspired or uncreative, let it go. Instead of focusing on the layout, focus your energy and passion on the story that needs to be told!
I began blogging about 19 months ago, and I’ve discovered along the way that my family blog contributes a LOT to my scrapbooks! Since I scrap our family photos about a year behind the actual events, I often forget the details behind the photos. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve referenced my family blog to jumpstart my memory. Most times, I’ve blogged about it, but when I haven’t, just being able to put myself back in that place and timeframe is often enough to jog my memory.
Sometimes, I even take the copy straight from my blog and put it on the scrapbook page. That’s what I did here:
This page also illustrates how easy it is to scrapbook two different subjects on one page. While the page isn’t artistic at all, it’s still as valuable - and maybe MORE so - than some of my more creative pages, because the story takes center stage. This is one I don’t want to forget, and now I can rest assured that I won’t.

I’ve been thinking of starting a blog just for me. This might just push me over the edge. I also scrap my pictures about a year behind, so I’m always needing a boost in memory. Thanks for the great idea Stacy!

Yes!!! This is EXACTLY why I blog. Since I started card making I’ve gotten steadily behind in my scrapbooking. By blogging about events I still have the emotion and the details present in my journalling. I recently actually caught my scrapbooking up to my blogging and it’s wonderful. The blog is a bit more ‘raw and real’ so I have to temper exactly what I record in my album but it has been absolutely invaluable. I love that you included text from your blog directly on your layout. I will probably end up doing something similar in the future.

And a side note…I love that you included the photos of Aidan’s shiner. That photo of me huggin him is one of favourites.

I don’t blog, but I do keep all of my sent e-mails. My send mail folder is gianormous! But I find that I type stories and funny incidents to family and friends that I often forget until I reread a sent message. I use my sent message folder in the same way you use your blog. It helps jog my memory and make sure that I don’t forget the details when I’m behind in my scrapbooking.
I have enjoyed reading your blog! So much great information and what fun to get to “know” you a little better too! Thanks for sharing so much!
