using twills and ribbons
I LOVE printed twills! I almost never pass up the opportunity to buy new ones that I don’t have in my stash.
To adhere them, I use several techniques. Sometimes I run them through my mini Xyron, creating a “ribbon sticker”. (Always use a stylus or the edge of your fingernail to trace around the object you’ve just Xyroned, before you peel off the clear plastic top layer. This will separate the object from the adhesive, thus eliminating those nasty glue boogers that cling otherwise.)
Sometimes, rather than using Xyron, (usually because I’m out of it), I instead use CM’s photo tape, which works just as well, and without the glue boogers!
When I’m using a page-width length of ribbon or twill and don’t want the cut edge to show and fray, I Xyron the ribbon down, and then fold the ends over to the back of the page, and secure with plain ol’ Scotch tape. This technique only works if you’re using cardstock and “wallpapering” your pages. If you’re working directly on pages, you obviously don’t want to be taping leftover ribbon to the backside, unless you’re prepared to cover it up. I’m stating the obvious, I know. ![]()

Other times, when I’m not using a full length of ribbon, I often attach it with a brad, or I simply tie it around the object I’m accessorizing, whether it be a photo, a monogram, or a frame.

I love ribbon! I have every color of Stampin’ Up grossgrain, and I hate using it because I love the way it looks hanging in my studio. I hate to use my twills, too, because I’m always afraid that another layout will come along later that will be MORE perfect for that particular twill, and I’d hate to not be able to find it. CRAZY TALK! What’s wrong with me?
Do as I say, not as I do. Buy some twills and ribbons, and USE them liberally.
And here’s your challenge this week: show me a NEW layout you’ve done using ribbons or twills. There’s a prize in it for ya!

Ooooooohhhhh, I love ribbon. I have recently discovered it and the effect it has on my pages. I can’t get enough!
I did the last page of my Disney book last night and used ribbon on it. I’ll have to photograph it. It’s not tecnically new, though!
BTW, that’s the Disney album I started at the TX retreat. I completed 96 pages (that’s 48 backs & fronts) since I got home. I was so inspired in Texas, I had to get the album done to practice the techniques I learned!

I love ribbon too…it’s sooooo pretty and fun and vibrant but I just have a hard time using it on layouts for boys! But thanks to your challenge I did it…and ya know…it looks not too bad if I do say so myself! Here’s the link:

Stacy,
Lunch was fun today! Here is my ribbon layout. It is one of my favorite layouts from my DD kindergarten year. It is all CTMH stuff.
